May 2015 Allure Sample Society Unboxing
Hi lovely ladies! I hope you all are doing well. I have been super busy preparing for a move and a new job, but blogging helps me to just take a moment to breath and forget about my stresses for awhile. So, in this post I am unboxing the May 2015 Allure Sample Society. So let’s get started.
I love the way Allure Sample Society set up this box, everything was in perfect order and fit just right in the box. I just keep looking at it, because the packaging is so lovely and because I’m a geek like that. This subscription costs $15 a month. For the most part, it’s pretty consistent. You typically get 5-6 beauty and makeup samples. You very rarely, if ever at all, get full size samples. But the value is still more than the box.
I love this sample! I’ve received a few sleeping masks in boxes before, but have yet to try one. I’m looking forward to testing this one out. This is the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask. It’s an overnight hydrating mask that draws in moisture and it’s supposed to leave skin plumped and glowing. It’s an ice blue gel with a very clean, rosy scent that should melt quickly into the skin so there’s no residue left on your pillow. It’s valued at $10.
Next is Eau Thermale Avene Thermal Spring Water which is described as a skin-quenching water spray that calms and softens dry skin. These sprays are apparently very popular in Europe, but I’m not at all familiar with them, so I decided to do a little Google search to see what I could find out. On makeupalley.com it received 4.2 lipsticks out of 5. 538 people reviewed it, so that’s pretty good. People using it say it’s refreshing and seems to soothe and cool dry, tired skin. However, some reviewers say it just feels like your spraying water on your face and they noticed no difference at all. Right now, I use a toner that I spray on my face, so I plan on switching out with this product and see if I notice anything different. I’ll let you know how that goes. This is valued at $4.
I’m pretty excited to try this sample out. It’s John Luxurious Volume 7 day Volume In-Shower Treatment. So the “selling point” behind this product is that you put this in your hair after conditioning, rinse, blow dry and it creates fullness that should last up to five shampoos! Hello! If this stuff works it is Da Bomb – dot – com! If it doesn’t work it will be a bummer because it’s a great concept. According to the Allure pamphlet, editors with fine hair who tried this treatment, raved about it. One person said, “My hair looked as full and bouncy at 9 p.m. as it had right after I styled it at 9 a.m.” I don’t have fine hair, but I recently got a keratin treatment, so I’m hoping this will give it a little height and volume. Can’t wait to test it out. The sample is valued at $3.
I am thrilled that many spring sample boxes have been arriving with perfume. And not the small sample sizes, but pretty generous amounts. This is Versace Eros Pour Femme. It’s a musky, light scent. I like it. The pamphlet says the perfume has notes of pomegranate, jasmine, amber and must to name a few. I’m valuing this sample at $10.
More lip gloss. Oh boy! I mean…don’t get me wrong I like my lip gloss, but with subscription boxes I have so much of it, so if it’s not something real special…it’s hard to get excited. This is from Julep. The color is Graceful and it’s a very sheer pink gloss with a little bit of shimmer. It’s not a full size, so I’m valuing this sample size at $10. A full size will cost you $20.
Finally, we have Alterna Caviar Repair Multi-Vitamin Heat Protection Spray. This is a styling spray that softens and protects hair. It’s supposed to smooth strands that are dull or frayed from over-styling. I try not to blow dry my hair very much, but I do use a flat iron or curling iron almost daily so I think this will be a good product for me. I also checked out other reviews on the product…most people are saying it’s lightweight and smells nice. I read the biotin in the product is great for hair, especially if it’s color treated, which mine is. I’m valuing it at $5.
SUMMARY — FIVE OUT OF FIVE STARS
I loved this box! It cost me $15 and has a value of $42. The curation and placement were perfect. The product packaging was on point too and the items were awesome. While I’m not thrilled about all the lip gloss I’ve been receiving, in these reviews I take into account not everyone gets a million subscription boxes a month like I do, so I would say this box had the perfect variety. I’m really excited to try the thermal water spray and water sleeping mask. I also am thrilled about the perfume sample. And the hair products are awesome too! Yayyyy! So, I’m very pleased with everything and I may gift my lip gloss to a friend or add it in one of the boxes I plan on giving away to one lucky subscriber. With that being said, if you haven’t already, please subscribe to my blog. Once I reach 100, I plan on giving away a very cool, swag box. Thanks guys!
