April 2015 Allure Sample Society Unboxing
Hello friends! I’m going to be blogging on my Allure April 2015 subscription box. This is a monthly subscription box that includes beauty products from makeup, to face creams, hair products, perfumes and more. The cost of the box is $15 a month. Behind The Box pays for this subscription box. So…let’s get started!
In this little pamphlet, the curators of the box detail everything inside and why they chose a certain product. There’s also the price for the full sized product included. However, this month in Allure, no item was full sized. Let’s open it up.
So this is awesome, a mini candle made by Illume Tonka Noir. The notes of scent are mandarin, plum, rose, jasmine, Tonka bean, musk, sandalwood and Madagascar vanilla. It’s a lovely scent. The tin is small, but nice to sit on the bathtub. I value it at $10.
Up next is Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip Plumper in Rio. It’s a sheer brown lipstick. I’m not a huge fan of the color, but it’s pretty sheer so I think I will use it. According to the pamphlet, it won’t inflate your lips. So it’s not a limp plumper as the name eludes to. Which is OK with me because I’ve never found one to actually work anyway. It’s said to be heavy on the hydration though which is good, with ingredients like shea butter, sunflower oil and aloe. I’m valuing it at $12.
This lotion smells fabulous. It’s Mt. Sapola Lavendar-Chamomile Body Lotion. According to the card, the lotion is gentle and once it soaks in, there is no residue. But, apparently, the scent sticks around. The curators of this box suggest you wear a citrus perfume with it. I value it at $5.
This is Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil. This is a very popular and reputable brand. The oil is for all hair types. It’s supposed to enhance shine, preventing frizz and smoothing flyaways. Pretty decent smell, the booklet calls it a mix of coconuts and gardenias. It’s a very small sample, however it says you just need a pea-size drop to do the trick. So, checking out other reviews, on Sephora.com it’s getting favorable remarks. It received just over four stars out of five. People are saying it smells great and makes their hair look healthier. Those who didn’t like it said they didn’t notice a difference after using it. One comment said it contains too many chemical ingredients. I’m excited to try this product as I’ve never used an oil on my hair before. I value this at $2.
Next is a lovely perfume. It’s a small sample size, worth maybe two or three uses. But I love Marc Jacobs. The scent is Daisy Dream. It smells great and is described as an airy floral fragrance. I value it at $2.
And finally is Benefit the PoreFessional. I believe I’ve received this in a box before, but I have not tried it yet. It’s a silicone primer. But what’s interesting is that you apply this after your foundation. The curators of this box say this will make your pores less noticeable. The light peach tint is expected to make your skin look glowy. This is a great brand and I’ve heard remarkable things about this product. I look forward to trying it and giving you my review. I’m valuing it at $8.
SUMMARY– This box is $15 and I estimate the value at $39. I give it THREE out of FIVE stars. I love the candle and the variety of the items. However, I thought the items were very small and it’s hard to give an opinion on something if you don’t have much to sample. I’m most excited to try out the hair oil. Not real thrilled with the lipstick or the lotion. What do you think about the Allure Sample Society box?
