March 2015 Allure Sample Society Unboxing
Allure Sample Society is a monthly beauty subscription box. It is $15 a month and typically contains about five sample size products. behindtheboxblog.com pays for this subscription. This blog will detail what I received inside my March Allure box and give you a little background on the products plus what others are saying about the products inside the box. I will give you my full review of the various products in a couple of weeks.
It comes in this solid red box with white print and on the inside there is a card detailing the products and explaining why each product was chosen for the box.
The first goody is Juice Beauty Green Apple Age Defy Moisturizer. It’s anti-aging and comes with many organic ingredients which is why it’s a pretty popular product. Some of the cool ingredients inside include Vitamin C, Vitamin A, shea butter and jojoba. There’s not really a smell to it…but the card describes it to smell a bit like plastic. People reviewing this product really seem to like that it’s organic. Reviews on most websites give it a perfect score or pretty close to a perfect five out of five stars. People are saying it “perks” up your skin tone and actually makes your face look brighter. I feel like every product claims to brighten your face, but people using this one say it really does make your face appear brighter. I’ll be the judge of that. The sample inside this box retails for $18.
Second is Benefit Roller Lash Mascara. I have been hearing great things about this mascara so I hope I’m not disappointed. According to the Allure card the key to making lashes look more full is to get more mascara on the base than the tips. The wand on this mascara is supposed to help you accomplish that. Benefit is one of my favorite brands and I’m most excited to try this product out of everything in my box. It retails for $8.
Third is Oscar Blandi Pronto Texture and Volume Spray. It’s a nice clean scent and another popular name brand. Oscar Blandi is known for their dry shampoo, which I have and love! This spray is said to add volume, make dirty roots appear clean and boost waves (if you already have wavy hair). It also just makes your hair smell good on those days you can’t (or let’s face it just don’t want) to wash your hair. Reviews for this product are pretty solid. There are close to 500 comments about it on birchbox.com. Birchbox is another beauty subscription box. Women are saying it gave them body and lift. I liked one idea where a reviewer said she uses it when she doesn’t want to blow dry her hair and it gives an “amazing, messy, chic look.” I valued the sample size at $9.
Up next is Malin and Goetz Mojito Lip Balm. I believe I received this in another subscription box. I loved the minty scent but felt like it went on pretty heavy and goopy. I want to point out that this balm does not offer SPF. There is no color to it either, but it does add a gloss to your lips. I’m not crazy about this product, but other gals seem to like it. I will likely include this in a giveaway box (more details to come on that). It’s about half of a full size and I guessed it’s value at $6.
Fifth is a full size Cargo Essential Lip Gloss. Listen ladies, I love me some lip gloss but I’m up to my eyeballs in it. After being a dedicated sub boxer for the past couple of years, I have so much lip gloss I could open my own store. However, I did really like the nude/natural color I received in my box and will try it out to let you guys know what I think of the brand. It’s valued at $16.
CONCLUSION – THREE OUT OF FIVE STARS
I like the Allure subscription box. It’s not one of my favorites, but I do enjoy how the curators of the box put a nice pamphlet together stating what they love and don’t love about each product inside. This box for me wasn’t a huge win because I had one of the products inside and I’m not a fan of it. I also got another lip gloss. I will say the mascara makes me happy and is the reason I gave this box three instead of like 2.5 stars. I paid $15 for the box and the retail of everything inside is estimated at $57, so the value is definitely there. Comment below and let me know what you think of the March Allure box.
